Short answer: the lamp head will, the mounting will not. Unity spotlights are built around a shaft that is specific to the body it mounts on, and a bracket kit that is specific to the vehicle. Moving a spotlight from a Crown Victoria to a Tahoe means buying the Tahoe's bracket kit and, in most cases, a different shaft.
What is a shaft code?
The shaft is the tube that carries the lamp from the outside of the pillar to the control handle inside the cab. Its length and bend have to match the pillar angle and the cab depth of that body, and the letter in the part number records which. Unity uses nine: A, CL, DC, GM, H, O, P, PL and V. A 330GM and a 330V are the same 100-watt, 245,000 candlepower lamp on two different shafts.
Why does the bracket matter more than the lamp?
Because the bracket is what makes a hole in your vehicle's structure and then seals it. Each kit is matched to a body and a mount point and contains the bracket, fasteners, gasket, drill guide, trim pieces, locating template and instructions. A bracket that is nearly right is a bracket that leaks. This is also why brackets are handed: a kit marked RH will not fit the left-hand side.
What actually carries over between vehicles?
- Carries over: the lamp head, the control handle (if the shaft length is unchanged), the wiring
- Does not carry over: the bracket kit, the gasket, usually the shaft
In practice, moving a working spotlight to a newer truck costs a bracket kit and a gasket, and sometimes a shaft — well under the price of a complete assembly.
How do I find the right kit for the new vehicle?
Use the vehicle fitment search. Enter year, make and model and it returns the spotlights that fit, the left- and right-hand bracket kit numbers, and the matching handle, drawn from Unity's own vehicle application data. The Tahoe page and the Crown Victoria page list every confirmed application for those two bodies.
One more trap: the air curtain
On the Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Durango, fitment splits on whether the vehicle has a side air curtain. The 2007–2014 Tahoe without an air curtain takes kit 254; with one it takes a different bracket. Check the headliner edge above the doors for an airbag tag before you order.
