About Vehicle Spotlights
A vehicle spotlight is a lamp mounted permanently to the body of a vehicle and aimed by the driver from inside. It is not a flashlight kept in a glovebox and it is not an off-road light bar. It exists to put a controllable beam exactly where the operator is looking, from a moving or stationary vehicle, without anyone leaving the cab.
Who uses vehicle spotlights?
Law enforcement and security patrols reading house numbers, checking alleyways and lighting a scene. Tow and recovery operators working a roadside at night. Utility and fleet crews finding pole numbers and access gates. Ranch and agricultural users checking stock and fence lines. Search and rescue teams. In every case the requirement is the same: aim a beam from the driver's seat, repeatedly, in bad weather, for years.
Manual or remote-controlled?
Two approaches, both stocked here. Manual spotlights - Unity's post-mount and pillar-mount range - use a mechanical handle that passes through the body into the cabin. Nothing to power, nothing to fail, instant response, and they are still the fleet standard for that reason. Remote-controlled spotlights - Golight's Stryker ST and GT series - use a motorised head steered by wireless handheld remote or a hardwired dash panel. They can be mounted on a roof or bumper where no mechanical linkage could reach, and the operator does not need to be in the driver's seat. They cost more and depend on electronics.
Pillar mount vs post mount
Pillar-mount passes through the A-pillar for a flush, factory-look installation - the cleanest result and the strongest mounting, but a permanent modification. Post-mount clamps to the door-frame post, installs faster with a smaller penetration, and can be removed later. Both give full rotation and vertical adjustment.
LED or halogen?
LED draws a fraction of the current, lasts tens of thousands of hours, starts instantly and runs cool. Halogen costs less up front and keeps parts commonality with older fleet vehicles. For anything new, LED.
How do I know what fits my vehicle?
Fitment is decided by the bracket kit, not the lamp. Our vehicle fitment search covers the full Unity vehicle application database - select year, make and model and it returns the spotlights that fit, the bracket kit number, and the matching handle assembly. If your vehicle is not listed or has been modified, contact us before ordering.
Installation
Most installs are a two-hour job for someone comfortable removing an A-pillar trim panel, with the bracket kit supplying the gasket and fasteners. The electrical side is a single switched 12 V feed with an inline fuse. If you would rather not cut a pillar, choose a post-mount or a magnetic-base Golight instead.
